Auction of Promises 2020

The Auction of Promises raised £2,125 for St Mary’s Church, Brettenham

Lot 1. One Curtain Pole by Edward Harpley Ltd

Highest bid to date £50

Pole painted distressed cream, 50 mm diameter x 1725 mm long with fitted track. Plus one pair decorated matching finials and one pair of antiqued brass end brackets.

Lot 2. One Curtain Pole by Edward Harpley Ltd

Pole in solid polished mahogany. 50 mm diameter x 1980 mm long with fitted corded track. Plus one pair end finials and one pair of brass brackets.

Lot 3. Bespoke water colour picture of bidder’s choice by  Jackie Sumerfield

Highest bid to date £110

Jackie Sumerfield (Jane McDonald's sister), an artist living in Rossendale, Lancashire has promised to paint, from a photograph, a watercolour. It could be of a favourite view, maybe your house or garden or some of your favourite flowers or trees (no children or pets!). The painting will be A4 and mounted and framed in either a black or oak coloured frame. Jackie works mainly in watercolours and has a very distinctive impressionistic style. She has exhibited in various exhibitions in the North and is part of the Rossendale Art Trail when she opens her tiny studio to the public. See her website www.jackiesumerfieldstudio.co.uk

 

Lot 4. A Ventriloquist lesson with Amy Robinson

Amy is an experienced ventriloquist with her own puppets. Amy will provide a one hour lesson to anyone within a 30 minute drive of Rattlesdan. Day and time to be agreed.


 

Lot 5. Sailing with Tiffer Robinson on the River Cam

Highest bid to date £110

Join Tiffer for a boat ride along the Cam and the Great Ouse aboard cabin cruiser Sabbath, for up to 4 people, bring a picnic or we can arrange a pub stop. Day (maximum 6 hours) to be agreed spring/summer 2021.  Itinerary on the day flexible. Captain's hat optional.

 

 

Lot 6. Dinner for 4 people by Viv Bourne

Highest bid to date £100

Dinner of 3 courses to be delivered within 10 miles radius of Brettenham to your house. The menu and date to be discussed in advance.

Example menu:  Starter: Twice baked soufle, Main: Pork medallions with pasta,  Dessert: Lemon posset.

Lot 7. DIY/ Garden help offering of up to 7 hours work by Grahame Moulding

Highest bid to date £115

Grahame is an experienced builder recently retired. He will provide his labour and tools free of charge. The bidder to provide any building materials required. Grahame will do this with in a 10 mile radius of Brettenham. Day and time to be agreed.

 

 

 

Lot 8. Bespoke painting of your dog by Geoffrey Bourne.

The painting will be in acrylic medium from a favourite photo (A4) provided by the bidder; size: A4 framed. The timing to be discussed.

 

Lot 9. A case of 6 magnums of claret by Charles Camp

Highest bid to date £220

From Charles’ wine cellar 6 magnums of Ronan by Clinet vintage 2015. A Bordeaux red wine from Chateau Clinet based on the merlot grape. This wine will go very well with turkey, goose or ribs of beef on Christmas day.

 

Lot 10. 'Best of Palin' A complete set of Michael Palin books

Lot 11. Gardening help by Viv Bourne

4 hours gardening with advice and manual help to private householder within 10 mile radius of Brettenham.  The date and plan to be discussed in advance.

 

Lot 12. A Load of oak fire wood from Brettenham Church

Highest bid to date £140

The wood will be cut to the bidder’s requested size and delivered with in a 10 mile radius of Brettenham.


 

 

Lot 13. A case of 12 bottles of white burgundy  by Charles Camp

Highest bid to date £160

From Charles’ wine cellar 12 bottles of Petit Chablis by Domaine Roland Lavantureux 100% chardonnay. Vintage 2019. Perfect for cold turkey and gammon on Boxing Day.

Lot 14. Ride on Claas combine harvester with Tom Tavener

Highest bid to date £200

You may sit next to the driver (there is a driver’s seat plus a passenger seat) in a modern large combine harvester.  Feel the thrill and vibration as the harvester gathers in the grain from next year’s harvest. The ride will last for 1 hour on Tom’s farm in Brettenham. Timing July/August 2021. Minimum age is thirteen years old. Day to be agreed.

 

Lot 15. “A Pottery Throw Down at Hill Barn” with Fiona Camp

Highest bid to date £75

Come and be taught how to throw a pot on the wheel. A demonstration followed by several attempts at throwing your own bowl, plate or pot! It or they will then be dried enough for you to return to trim the “pot”. Once fully dried your piece will be biscuit fired ready for the glaze and finally a glaze firing. A very rewarding challenge to make your own hand thrown glazed ceramic “Pot”!

Lot 16. 1 brace oven ready pheasants

The brace of locally shot pheasants will be available during December 2020/ January 2021. For collection from Brettenham.

 

Lot 17. Load of wood chippings for mulch or garden paths.

The load of wood chippings is available now. Delivery within 10 miles of Brettenham. As a guide the lot size will fill the trailer (approx. size 1.5 m / 5 ft. X 1 m / 3 ft. 3 inches) in the photo below.

 

Lot 18. 2 brace oven ready partridge

The 2 brace of partridge locally shot will be available during December 2020/January 2021. For collection from Brettenham.

Lot 19. Haunch of venison

Highest bid to date £45

A haunch of venison (fallow deer, from freezer) with bone in weighing approximately 3 kilos (6.5 pounds). Available now. For collection from Brettenham.

Lot 20. A selection of home produced pork

Highest bid to date £25

Comprises 2 bags rare breed traditional sausages, 2 chunky chops and a smoked picnic ham/hock. Total weight 2.5 kg.  Ready now. Donated by The Suffolk Escape who provide award winning luxury self-catering accommodation on their farm in Hintlesham.  www.suffolkescape.co.uk

Lot 22.  Landscaping, farm work, ditching by Andrew Gooderham

Andrew is an experienced and skilled digger driver who has offered one days (7 hours) work involving any of landscaping, farm work or ditching. The offer is for work with in a five mile radius of Brettenham with Andrew’s time and his digger free to the successful bidder.
