For those who don’t already know our most exciting news is that the Gardening Club is going ahead, with the help of the BVA and the Parish Council, with installing a tap on the Village Green. We are hoping to make it very discreet so that it isn’t an eyesore and spoil the look of our lovely green. The tap will be placed near to the bench and to try to hide it we intend to create two new flowerbeds either side of the bench with evergreen planting. If anyone has any specific ideas on planting please let me know. This will revolutionise our management of the green and we look forward very much to being able to make use of it.
As to my own garden – everything is growing rapidly, including the weeds, after all this lovely rain! The water butts are full again and everything suddenly looks greener. What a dry May we had when we were all desperate for even the smallest drop! Our blue tits have fledged and flown and I am really missing watching them come and go. I have managed to create a small herb garden which I have been meaning to do for a while. Propagating – my lockdown challenge! Quite a few plants have been split and now fill the many gaps in the flowerbeds but no cuttings as yet. My other lockdown challenge was to use up the compost that has been creating itself over the last few years since listening to David’s excellent advice at one of the Gardening Club events. I have distributed it around the garden and been very grateful for it, while not being able to visit gardening centres. However, now I seem to have lots of little tomato plants popping up all over the place! A bonus maybe? Anyway happy gardening everyone and keep well.
