Everyone is welcome to take part and join in any of our activities, you don’t have to be a gardening club member!
July – Start of the Scarecrow competition. Michelle will have a bale of hay in her driveway for people to help themselves to. Please only take what you need for your scarecrow. Lets see how many scarecrows we can have on display around Brettenham. Be imaginative and have fun!!!! You will have the whole of July to build your scarecrow and put it somewhere that is visible from the road or footpath. If you would like to be included in the trail/competitionon, please email the gardening club so that we can add you to the village scarecrow trail - brettenhamgardeningclub@gmail.com.
August – Anytime during the first two weeks of the month, you will be able to take friends and family along the Scarecrow trail. Judge the scarecrows for yourself and let Michelle Harvey know what you think. Also, before the 19th Aug measure your sunflowers and send in a picture to brettenhamgardeningclub@gmail.com. On Saturday 19th August there will be a gardening meeting (to be held at the village Hall) 10.30am—1pm. The meeting is open to anyone and this will be held to award the best scarecrow and the tallest sunflower. We will also hope to celebrate our gardening successes. Please bring samples of what you have grown to the village hall. Tomatoes, cucumber, courgettes, sweet peas, roses. In fact, anything you have grown this year. We will display these for everyone to see. If you would like to stay a little longer please bring along a picnic and hopefully enjoy the sun (more information later).
If anyone would like any further informaton about any of the events or would like to help in anyway please contact Michelle Harvey - email brettenhamgardeningclub@gmail.com.
